Thank
you to the more than 30,000 purchasers of ReadingMaster in Australasia
over the last couple of years. We receive many letters, faxes, e-mails
and phone calls from customers, who are trying to establish what
is the new 'normal' for early childhood learning when tools like
ours have been used. We also would really like to know. What is
so exciting about this work is that we are seeing the experience
we had with our own children being repeated over and over again.
ReadingMaster users are generally many years ahead of what is expected
of children both here and internationally.
Some US data is claiming
that children should only be able to recognize that text reads
from left to right and that letters form words by the age of five.
Children who received ReadingMaster
in the first months of life are reading whole words as early as
15 months and by 24 months of age, many users have a reasonably
extensive whole word repertoire. Phonics recognition is starting
around the same time with some children recognizing all 70 phonograms
by 24 months and others due to learning style preferences taking
to them later but knowing them all by the time they reach school.
We have cases of older
children (4-5 years) learning all of the phonograms in 2-3 weeks
just using the videos. ReadingMaster children are actually reading
long before the age of five. How much before 5 seems to be purely
the result of how old the child was when he/she first received
early instruction, and how often the child had lessons.
The questionnaire
below is primarily for ReadingMaster users to fill out to help
us continue in our mission. We want to truly reflect the amazing
untapped potential for early learning children have by trying
to set new norms that are worthy of our children. We also need
your help to discover the optimal conditions under which more
and more children can learn earlier. We would really appreciate
ReadingMaster families taking the time to fill out this questionnaire.
We are utilizing research from all over the world but ReadingMaster
is actually getting the best results we know of right here in
New Zealand. Research in this area is critical for the future
of our children and the more data we can provide for the cause
the better. Thank you for your time as we appreciate how precious
time is. Many Thanks Denise
The information you provide
on your questionnaire is extremely important for my research and
will be used to help establish new norms. We will respect the
confidentiality of your information even if direct reference is
made to it (e.g. One child in my survey could recognize and read
all of the phonograms by 22 months old. Or, if you have not checked
the box Jans children Sue and John (no last name) read......
) Your questionaire will be kept on file for the purposes of this
study only and no other parties will have access to your full
name or contact details without your prior consent.
